Hold on to your pants, folks. ‘Cause I’m about to rock your world.
Welcome, my friends, to Honey Butter Fried Chicken. After only being open for a few short weeks, this quaint neighborhood spot already has Chicago talking — including an incredibly positive review in the RedEye. But that’s not the only reason I’ve been dying to try it.
Remember my Sunday Dinner Club experience? Well, that guy & gal are the same people behind HBFC. Turns out SDC is right above the new restaurant. Genius, right?
Just wait ’til you try the chicken.
(Can you see my excitement?!)
Here’s what we ate (& drank!):
Damn Good Sweet Tea
Pimento Mac ‘n Cheese
Roasted Sweet Potato Salad with Lime Vinaigrette
Creamed Corn with Green Curry <–personal fav. And from what I’ve read, I’m not alone. Fingers crossed they make this guy a permanent part of their menu.
And last but certainly not least, their famous fried chicken.
With buttah. But not just any buttah, honey buttah. (I promise I’m not really fat…they tell you to do that. Swear.)
We literally drove home, pants buttons popped, all like, “WANT. MORE. CHICKEN.”
When you go, I have no doubt there’ll be a line out the door. But you know why? Because it’s that dang good — and worth the wait.
Even the hub–who’s not a city guy– said he’d make the trek back down to the city just to pick up chicken to go. (That’s huge, FYI.)
Here’s to honey butter! (And creamed corn!)
